About Us

Established over 60 years ago, now based on the site of Sturton By Stow Primary School, we are a community funded, independent youth organisation providing support, activities, opportunity and support for secondary school pupils 11 to 17 years old.

Since 2012, we have been dependent on fundraising and community support to continue what we do. We have a well established and dedicated management team who work hard to ensure the security of our club to keep it moving forwards.

We are also well supported by a strong body of volunteers who give up their time on Monday and Friday evenings to support our Youth Leader in running the sessions. All staff are clearly visible in the centre, wearing lanyards & a purple top with “SBSYC STAFF” on the back and we always aim to operate with 2-4 staff depending on demand to ensure a safe environment for all who attend.

Our Building

Inside the old canteen of Sturton By Stow Secondary School, we are very fortunate to have access to a very well equipped building.

Our main room features a pool table, TV, two recently upgraded computers, PlayStation 4 and a Nintendo Wii.

Our walls and displays are created and inspired by all who come to this youth club. We are hoping soon to redecorate our venue to even further improve the centre to our teenagers and young adults who attend each week.

We are very proud of our premises and we continue to work hard to ensure we provide the best to the young people in our community.

Snack Bar

We have a well stocked, continually evolving snack bar with a wide variety of snacks including crisps, chocolate, sweets and canned drinks.

Our snack bar is situated in our main room, and is open throughout the evening to all. We work to ensure it remains well stocked, and aim to ensure it provides an ample snack to all.

Prices range from 10P on sweets to 80P on drinks and chocolate. We aim to stock sugar free canned drinks where possible subject to supplier availability.

Sports Hall

Also part of our facility, we use our sports hall for a wide range of sporting and team activities. There are often large groups who enjoy playing football, with frequent games being played throughout the night.

It’s not just football, we also have kit for dodge-ball, volleyball, badminton and tennis. Therefore whatever sport you enjoy, we do our best to facilitate that for you.

The walls are also coated with vibrant colours, youth inspired words and creativity to bring the sports hall to life! We have just completed a brand new fresh piece of modern urban art soon to be on show on our activities page.

TV Room

At the back of our building, we have a small room with a TV in, which can be used by anyone as a quiet space to sit and relax, or connect to the Wi-Fi and catch up with social media or play some music.

The room has a sofa and chairs in to allow a small group to be in, with a wall mounted TV providing the ability to use the room as a second games room.

This is also somewhere members can talk to staff about any concerns they may have about something that may be going on outside of school or in home life which may be bothering them.
